Robbie Mellinger's Bio

Rob Mellinger, lead guitarist in The Logan Kraft Band, started his musical career playing piano and clarinet, winning local competitions, composing his own songs, and advancing quickly in area youth bands. He began playing guitar in his freshman year at Westfield High School in Northern Virginia and performed in three different guitar groups while in high school: a classical ensemble, a jazz/rock/blues ensemble, and a jazz octet. Rob received an outstanding soloist award at Fiestival in 2006, the Glenn McCarthy award in 2007 – named for the influential founder of the guitar program in area schools and awarded to the student who has most influenced the program. At graduation, Rob received a partial scholarship from the guitar department and was asked to perform with the school principal at his graduation ceremony as a surprise to the graduating class.
During his high school years Rob also played in a Christian Rock band, Prophets 4 Higher, and opened for an annual Philestival concert in May of 2006. Rob moved to Virginia Tech and joined the band Frat Pack in 2007. That group played a Greek benefit concert and a Battle of the Bands competition in early 2008. The band restructured to form the Logan Kraft band in 2009, and began recording their first album in August.
