James Rieder's Bio

James’ life has always revolved around two things: airplanes and drums. The latter caused James to pick up his first pair of drum sticks at the tender age of 9. Having a strong love and appreciation for rhythm, he taught himself to play set and by high school was often seen keeping tempo for many a group of friends. Though venues were often limited to small, community events and talent shows, James grew to love performing for crowds and would jump at any occasion to play with local musicians.

As college drew near, James’ strong passion for aviation was unavoidable and he decided to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Of course, the prospect of moving to a new state meant new opportunities to drum. James performed with both the Jazz Ensemble and the Pep Band/Drum Corps, which he became the Drum Captain of during his sophomore year. And often the night air would be filled with the sounds of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton as James and several talented friends would jam well into the morning hours.

James graduated in May of 2009 and immediately accepted a job opportunity as a Mechanical Engineer for the Navy; in doing so, he made sure his new place of residence would be able to support his drummer lifestyle. It was also here that James met Logan Kraft and the two hit it off instantly with both their personality and passion for music. After listening to a small sampling of Logan’s work, James was hooked and nearly begged to be a member of the band. The rest, as they say, is history. Beautiful, beautiful history.
